H.H. The Amir Sword Festival brings four days of horse racing to Al Rayyan, with a programme split between two racing surfaces. For visitors choosing which dates to attend, 10–11 February feature dirt-track racing, while 12–13 February feature turf racing.
Race status changes for 2027
The H.H. The Amir Trophy, the festival’s flagship Thoroughbred race, moves from international Group 2 to international Group 1 status for this edition. The Trophy is a race within the wider H.H. The Amir Sword Festival.
Three other races also receive upgrades:
- Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup: promoted from Listed to Group 3.
- Dukhan Sprint Cup: elevated to Listed status.
- Al Rayyan Mile: elevated to Listed status.
Organised by Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, the festival runs from 10–13 February 2027. Its mix of dirt and turf racing makes the choice of day relevant for visitors interested in a particular racing surface.
