Our approach to travel information
Qatar by Date brings together event listings, weather data and itinerary guidance to help international visitors plan around their travel dates. These information types serve different purposes and have different limitations.
Event details describe announced activities. Current weather provides context for a particular time and location. Climate averages describe historical patterns. Itineraries offer editorial suggestions for arranging a trip.
This page explains the sources and interpretation of that information. Our Editorial Principles explain the standards that guide publication, review and corrections.
Event sources and review
Event information may originate from organisers, venues, ticketing providers or other identifiable event listings. Automated collection helps discover information, but a collected record is not automatically a published event.
The working record retains a source URL where available. During editorial review, we check the available title, dates, venue, description and admission or booking information. Organiser and venue pages, together with booking providers identified by the organiser, take priority when checking practical details.
The source used to discover an event may differ from its official source. On public event pages, an “Official source” link identifies the relevant organiser, venue or official event information rather than simply the website where we first found the listing.
Verification means checking information against an identifiable source at the time of review. It does not guarantee that an event will proceed unchanged or that admission remains available.
Published events, featured events and counts
A published event is a record approved for public display on Qatar by Date. A featured event is a published record selected for more prominent placement.
These distinctions matter when reading event numbers:

An event-list total describes the records included in that list under its current date range and filters.

A featured-event count describes the selected events within the stated scope, rather than every event listed on the website.

The cards currently visible may show only part of a list because of pagination or a limited display area.
Our listings are a selection of available information, not a complete register of every event in Qatar. A low count or empty result does not establish that no other events are taking place.
For a time-sensitive booking or visit, check the organiser’s latest information.
Weather information for Doha
Our weather section uses data supplied by Open-Meteo for Doha. It presents weather information separately from the historical averages used in monthly guides.
Open-Meteo’s current conditions are based on weather-model data. They should not be understood as a direct measurement taken by Qatar by Date at a visitor’s exact location.
Temperature, relative humidity and wind describe different aspects of conditions. Daily high and low values refer to a day, while sunrise and sunset describe solar timings; they do not all represent measurements taken at the same instant.
Weather information can become outdated. Check the displayed date, time and timezone before relying on it, and do not assume that loading a page triggers a new data request. Conditions elsewhere in Qatar may differ from the Doha values.
Historical climate data
Our monthly guides use long-term climate figures for Doha identified as Open-Meteo ERA5 data. The guides currently display the reference period 1996–2025 alongside the climate information.
ERA5 is a reanalysis dataset: it combines historical observations with modelling to estimate past atmospheric conditions. It is not a record collected by Qatar by Date. Further information is available in the Open-Meteo Historical Weather API documentation.
The year in a monthly guide’s address identifies that edition of the travel guide. It does not turn historical averages into a forecast for that year. A September 2026 guide can therefore use the same historical reference period as another monthly edition.
Doha provides a stated location for this climate context. Its figures should not be interpreted as identical conditions across every part of Qatar.
Reading the climate figures
Each climate indicator answers a different question:

Average high temperature, in °C: a summary of historical daily highs for the month, rather than an all-day average or a record maximum.

Average relative humidity, in %: historical moisture conditions expressed relative to the air’s capacity at its temperature. This is not the probability of rain.

Average monthly rainfall, in mm: a historical monthly amount, rather than rainfall expected on each day or the number of rainy days.

Average daily sunshine, in hours: sunshine duration expressed on a daily basis. It is different from the total time between sunrise and sunset.
Displayed averages cannot show the full range of conditions within a month. A low rainfall average does not rule out a rainy day, and an average high temperature does not establish the hottest temperature a visitor could encounter.
Use these figures to compare seasonal context. Use an appropriate forecast closer to your travel dates for day-specific planning.
Itinerary sources and reasoning
Our itineraries are editorial planning frameworks. They organise a trip around its stated duration, the relationship between places, the balance of experiences and the recommended pace.
The core route is designed to remain useful beyond a single month. Temporary events are not treated as permanent fixtures on a particular day. Monthly climate and event information add context when available for the selected travel month.
A suggested route is not a live timetable or booking confirmation. Visitors should check current opening arrangements, admission requirements and transport information with the relevant provider before finalising plans.
The explanation of why a route works is editorial judgement. It should be read alongside the traveller’s own interests, mobility needs and preferred pace.
AI assistance and source material
AI tools may help organise supplied information, prepare drafts and present content consistently. AI-generated wording is not a data source or evidence that a claim is correct.
Event facts and weather values need support from source records or supplied datasets. Editorial review remains responsible for checking the resulting explanation and removing unsupported claims.
AI assistance does not establish first-hand experience. We do not use generated wording to imply that an activity has been personally tested or that a provider has endorsed our guidance.
Updates and historical editions
Different information changes at different rates. Event arrangements may change after publication. Weather values relate to a particular time. Climate figures describe a longer historical period, while itineraries are revised when their guidance needs improvement.
A page modification date records a change to that page. It does not establish that every linked source or individual fact was checked again on the same date. A review date, where provided, refers to an editorial check rather than continuous monitoring.
Monthly guides remain available under their original month and year. Historical event references belong to that edition and should not be treated as current schedules. Readers can find other editions through our Monthly Qatar Guides.
