Tasmeem Doha brings hands-on making, cultural memory and creative discussion together at VCUarts Qatar. Its November programme centres on transmitting knowledge: how skills, stories and ideas are preserved, shared and reinterpreted through art and design.
Workshops and exhibition
From 1–4 November, workshops across the campus explore pattern design, archives, printmaking, digital tools and experimental material practices. The Knowledge Circle, or halaqa, gives participants a setting to exchange workshop insights and reflect on the programme’s theme.
The exhibition Secrecy Is Immoral considers knowledge as a shared responsibility, with works addressing inherited narratives, cultural memory and ways of passing knowledge on. Its opening reception takes place on 4 November, 6–8 pm, at The Gallery, VCUarts Qatar. The exhibition’s wider run is 27 October–3 December 2026.
Talks and closing performance
Part of the Design Doha Biennial 2026, the Speaker Series pairs talks with moderated panel discussions on two days:
- 5 November, 10 am–2 pm: Intergenerational Knowledge, at the VCUarts Qatar Atrium.
- 7 November, 2–8 pm: Reframing Knowledge, also at the Atrium.
The series concludes with a performance by electronic musician and producer Muqata’a and filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist Fairouz Hassan.
Admission is free, but registration is required through the Tasmeem website. Choose your visit around the workshops, exhibition or talks that interest you: timings vary by day.
