Qatar-Mexico Year of Culture: Sounds of Mexico is an orchestral concert presented as part of the Qatar-Mexico Year of Culture. Conductor Enrique Diemecke leads the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme featuring music by four Mexican composers.
The first part opens with Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, followed by Carlos Chávez’s Chacona and Blas Galindo’s Sones de Mariachi. After the interval, the orchestra performs Silvestre Revueltas’s Redes.

Diemecke’s recordings of music by Revueltas, Chávez and Moncayo received Mexico’s Golden Record Award. For this performance, he conducts a programme moving across different examples of Mexican orchestral composition.
