Mughal-E-Azam: The Musical 2026 is a Hindi-language stage adaptation of K. Asif's 1960 film Mughal-E-Azam, presented with English subtitles. The production comes to Al Mayasa Theater at Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha on 6 and 7 November 2026.
The stage production
The musical combines live singing, Indian classical music, Kathak dance and large-scale choreography. Its cast and crew includes more than 150 people, supported by over 250 stage lights and 550 costumes.
Since premiering in 2016, the production has completed more than 275 performances across India, Canada, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
The musical received seven Broadway World India Awards in 2017, including Best Play, Best Director, Best Original Choreography, Best Original Costume Design, Best Ensemble Cast, Best Original Lighting Design and Best Original Set Design.
Creative team
The production is directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and produced by Deepesh Salgia under the patronage of Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Private Limited. It has been described in the supplied event information as India's first Broadway-style musical.
